Celebrating the Season with Vigna Dogarina

Vigna Dogarina Prosecco

Many people have discovered prosecco as a pleasing, budget-conscious alternative to champagne when it comes to celebrating festive occasions. Not all proseccos are created equal, however. Finding bottles labeled with “DOC” (Denominazione Origine Controllata) or “DOCG” (Denominazione Origine Controllata Garantita) is a guarantee of quality, meaning that the grape used and the wine making process originated in a specific region.

Vigna Dogarina’s DOC prosecco comes from the most prestigious prosecco region in Italy, Valdobbiadene, located in the Veneto region and is available in two varieties, Brut and Extra Dry, retailing for $16 to $20 per bottle. Vigna Dogarina Brut has a delicate floral perfume and pleasant notes of wisteria. It is the driest prosecco of the range and the low residual sugar level brings out an appealing freshness and acidity with hints of green apple.

The Extra Dry features fragrant floral qualities accompanied by attractive notes of acacia and meadow flowers, wild apples and honey. Its slightly higher residual sugar allows a rounder and softer effect on the pallet and brings out floral and fresh fruit aromas.

Sutter Home Winery

Sutter Home Winery

Sutter Home Winery’s motto has been around for more than 50 years, but it pretty well caters to the mindset of today’s savvy consumer: “A great product for a fair price.”

Known for creating the White Zinfandel back in 1972, the family-run Sutter Home received an award from Wine Spectator magazine back in 1974 for “having introduced more Americans to wine on the table than anyone in history.” Not too shabby.

Upcycle Wine Bottles Into Wall-Mounted Vases

wine bottle vases

Earlier this year we shared a novel way to recycle wine bottles: DIY outdoor torches. If you’re looking for a way to use wine bottles that involves less chance of immolation, this indoor-friendly hack is it.

All the pieces for the project, save for the wine bottles, can be found at your local hardware store. You’ll need some basic pieces of hardware, like a ceiling flange, a split-ring hanger, and some screws for mounting your flange to the wall. Essentially you’re building the torch—which was the inspiration for the vases—and skipping the part where you make a copper plug for the wick.

Ronn Wiegand Signature Wine Glasses

Ronn Wiegand Signature Wine Glasses

Celebrity endorsement is a common thing in sports equipment but not quite so common in the world of wine. Master Sommelier and Master of Wine Ronn Wiegand has collaborated on a new line of wine glasses with German line Eisch Glaskultur.

The Ronn Wiegand Signature series of Breathable wine glasses were collaboratively designed by Ronn Wiegand and Eisch. In a press release, Wiegand stated that after a year and a half of using Eisch Breathable glasses on a daily basis on hundreds and hundreds of red, white, and rose wines from around the world he was very impressed. He found that they helped wines taste smoother, fruitier, and more forward.

The new line is machine-made, lead-free crystal with a pulled stem and is specially designed to show the best in New World wines. Each piece is produced from a single lump of glass, eliminating the seam between the stem and the bowl. The series includes glasses for Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Champagne, and an all-purpose Red Wine glass. The Ronn Wiegand Signature line also includes a Tumbler.

Prices range from $239.99 to $324.99 for a set of six glasses.

Dragonfly Winery

Dragonfly Winery 2

A boutique label from California, Dragonfly Winery is focused on producing small quantities of ultra premium terrior driven wines, paired with a unique winemaking style.

We were approached by Dragonfly to rejuvenated their wine packaging & brand identity. Our solution was a simple, clean typographic approach alongside a Dragonfly illustration creating a strong, modern visual identity.

The application takes the form of a 1 colour silver screen to the bottle. The logotype on the neck label is silver foiled onto black, making for easy identification when the bottle is stored amongst other wines.

twomatch magazine ad

New work from twomatch, a new studio based in Greece. They have sent in their latedt design for and aged wine brand called Ampeloeis Gold and Ampeloeis Silver:

“Two red wines, matured with 100% and 50% respectively;-aging in oak barrels the winery had to have an elegant, respectively, while “heavy” label to identify precisely what it offers, a fine wine for those who know how to choose.

The very careful design of labels with an emphasis on typography, but also in the actual cutting of the logo represents the company, combined with the choice of paper or silver stamping the gold stamping, embossing and the custody of the print, the result is what the consumers and customer wants.”
