New work from a small agency called SMART, based in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Check out this beautiful design for a small winery in Croatia.

“The last name of family that produces wine is GaÅ¡par. GaÅ¡par is name of one of the Three Kings in the scene of Nativity. There we found inspiration of three gifts they brought to baby Jesus. As they launched three different wines we found that as perfect background story.”

The Wine Society 6

Brief: The Wine Society wanted to upgrade it’s labels from something that was quite generic to something that added a little more value. The Society is competing against many different wineries and it was important that the labels had good standout, reflected the quality and helped beginning to tell the WS story. The labels needed to work across 3 tiers, a value range, a mid range and a more premium high end range. There were over 30 different labels in the whole series so they needed to feel like a group but also stand alone in their tier.

Solution: One of the most telling aspects of our society is how we dress and what we wear. These labels have been designed to firstly reflect and re-enforce the idea of ‘Society’ but also create individual personality and style for each wine. The tie was chosen as the main visual link as it talked to the idea of a society or a group and a standard. A full neck tie is used for the value tier and a bow tie is used for the premium and reserve tier. Each tie has a change of colour and image for each wine.

Our gift for our clients is a bottle of wine. The concept was to make the wine bottle our female messenger that sends the client our best wishes and also to make the client smile.

The solution for the funny part of the gift was to make the label go down to see what’s behind: Everybody is sure to see some breast, but, instead of breasts they find two new born baby. The title of this work is HOt HOt HOt (instead of Santa’s HO HO HO).

Teusner Wines are a small boutique winery based in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. They approached Sage to help them create a brand and package to sell their ‘MC Sparkling Shiraz’ for around AUD $65 retail.

The feature graphics on this packaging represent bubbles in their simplest form – circles. The circle pattern, logo and appellation are printed in copper foil to add value to this concept.

Once again Veuve Clicquot trusts Denis Boudard to create it’s new giftbox: The Veuve Clicquot Fridge. The designer and the brand have collaborated several times such as on the Trendy Collection, a whole set of champagne service tools composed of an ice bucket, some flutes, a bottle stopper, an appetizer and a spectacular Jeroboam ice bucket.

Ten years ago, Veuve Cliquot was revolutionizing the champagne consumption with its Clicquot Ice Box. This box allowed savoring one’s favorite vintage at the ideal temperature. From then on, Veuve Clicquot chose to rethink every year its coolbox collection, in order to offer freedom to consume champagne anytime, anywhere.

Veuve Clicquot Fridge has been thought to keep the Brut Yellow label fresh for up to 2 hours. It is handy, forward-looking and aesthetically appealing. It underlines the brand’s search for excellence and unique vision about innovation always combined with the finest champagnes.

Swanson Vineyards Launches New Website

swansonvineyardwebsite

One of our favorite wineries, Swanson Vineyards has launched a new website that presents Swanson as more of a lifestyle than just a winery. The brand already sold Swanson-branded caviar and the delectable Alexis bonbons (a delicious curry and cabernet sauvignon chocolate confection) but now the site includes more gifts. “We’re presenting a new and lively face for our wines with our new website,” explains proprietor W. Clarke Swanson. “This fresh approach with our website characterizes Swanson as a winery with elegant lifestyle choices, which is expressed by the detail and personality of our new site,” he added.

Orchestrated by the winery’s Creative Director, Alexis Swanson Traina, the Swanson Vineyards’ new site communicates the Swanson wine experience through illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme’s fanciful renderings. The website will offer new material each month and includes Alexis’ Napa, a blog written by Alexis Swanson Traina, full of tips and her personal point of view on life in Napa. Her blog will also include profiles of San Francisco Bay Area personalities in a section called Peeps & Players: currently featured are Katrina Markoff, Ira Yeager, Trevor Traina, Andy Spade, Thomas Britt, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Torryne Choate and Sam Godfrey.

Swanson Vineyards is also opening the Sip Shoppe this summer at the Rutherford, California vineyard. Billed as a candy store for adults the shop offers sips of Swanson Vineyards’ finest library vintages paired with small bites as well as gifts and wines available by the case of the bottle. Tastings include caviar, chocolates, pates de fruits (jellies) and sorbets, in mini pairings such as Swanson Vineyards Pinot Grigio served with a large dollop of Swanson Vineyards’ domestic caviar on a potato chip. The signature tasting is the Salonnière, featuring “Alexis” Cabernet Sauvignon paired with Alexis Bonbon and served with the highly delicate dessert wine Angelica.

The shoppe sells playful kits including the Newlywed Kit: six bottles of Swanson Vineyards’ special occasion wine “Just Married,” accompanied by an ostrich feather duster and a sage bundle (complete with instructions to clear out bad energy and create wedded bliss). Coming shortly, The Break Up Kit, The Stork Kit and the Please Forgive Me Kit.

Swanson Vineyards’ partners include retail genius Andy Spade; renowned illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme; interior designer Thomas Britt; illustrious chocolatier Katrina Markoff of Vosges Haut Chocolate; Singer Vanessa Carlton and her exclusive stationery line (unique to Swanson Vineyards); avant-garde florist Torryne Choate; and renowned California painter, Ira Yeager. The shop opens July 15, hours are Thursday – Sunday 11:00am – 5:00pm.

Selling wine in supermarkets – by the glass.

Selling wine by the glass

A young British entrepreneur had the bright idea of selling wines in single serve portions in plastic stemmed wine glasses with foil tops.

The single serve, he reasoned, would be attractive to people who didn’t want to open a whole bottle, and just wanted one glass. It would also be attractive to people having picnics, going to festivals and concerts and commuters going home after a hard days work and looking to unwind on the train.

So he took his idea to the friendly and welcoming folk on ‘The Dragons Den’. This is a British TV series where budding entrepreneurs look for funding from a team of hard bitten business people.

Well, they shot him down in flames. Thought his idea was mad, it would never take off.

A few months later he sold his idea, lock, stock and barrel to Marks and Spencer, and now they are selling so much that they are struggling to keep up with demand. The glasses of ready to drink wine are flying off the shelves.

Skybar

Skybar

The Skybar One is a smaller version of the original Skybar Wine Preservation & Optimization System. The original holds three bottles and now, for those looking for something smaller and with a less industrial appearance, the Skybar One is available to serve and display a single bottle at a time.

The high-tech system is designed to do four things, all at the press of a button: chill the wine to the optimal temperature (there are pre-programmed settings for 15 different varietals), dispense the wine (no need to remove the bottle or mess with recorking), preserve the wine for up to 10 days via vacuum technology, and display the wine attractively in the sleekly designed case that features LED lighting for ambiance.

Impress your guests and feel like one yourself thanks to no serving or cleanup required.
